In short

Digital field planning connects appointments, on-site reports, and billing in one system. Jupiter ERP keeps orders, technicians, service objects, and invoices on the same record so the office does not retype what the field already captured.

Field service planning is more than a calendar. You need who goes where, which asset or site is involved, what was done on site, and how open quantities turn into invoices. If those steps live in separate tools, someone in the office rebuilds the day from notes, photos, and chat messages.

A workable setup links the customer, the service object (asset, equipment, or site), the order with status and owner, the appointment, the report, and the billable lines. Material used on site should be visible on the same order that later creates a partial or final invoice.

Jupiter ERP puts that chain in the service module: orders with appointments, a team planner, day view, reports, maintenance contracts, and billing from open quantities. Trades, facility teams, and service providers use the same data in the panel and, where useful, in the companion app.

How do orders, appointments, and the team planner work together? Link to this section

A service order carries status, owners, and line items. Each line shows delivered, billed, and still open. Appointments hang on the order so dispatch and technicians see the same job, not a copy in a spreadsheet.

The team planner is the board view: assign technicians and move jobs with drag and drop. The “My day” view complements it for one person. It groups upcoming appointments and orders for the selected day without opening the full board.

Filters by status, technician, and period keep the order list usable when volume grows. Customers and service objects stay linked, so history is on the asset, not only on the last invoice.

How do on-site reports feed billing? Link to this section

On site you capture time, material, outcome, photos, and signature in a report tied to the order and contact. Structured fields follow your service configuration: checklists, readings, or free text for maintenance, installation, or support.

Billing uses the quantities the job already recorded. A partial invoice covers part of the open quantity; a final invoice closes the rest. The order keeps showing what is still open, so you do not invent progress in a second system.

That matters when a job spans several visits. The field updates the order; finance bills what is ready. Progress and final invoices come from the same lines, with subject, due date, and texts from your tenant templates.

When do maintenance contracts help? Link to this section

Recurring maintenance is easy to miss when due dates live in a private calendar. Maintenance contracts in Jupiter ERP store interval, term, and prefilled line items. With automation on, due periods become maintenance orders or invoices; you can also create the next document manually.

The generated order hangs on the contact and service object. Capture the report on site, then bill from the same lines. The contract list shows next creation and next period so overdue visits surface before the customer calls.

Honest plan note: maintenance contracts are included in the trial and the Enterprise plan. Basic and Free do not include them. The broader service module (orders, planner, reports, objects) is the day-to-day base; contracts add the recurring layer when you need it.

  • Define interval in days, weeks, months, or years
  • Choose contract type: order or invoice per period (not both at once)
  • Enable hourly automatic creation or trigger processing manually
  • Keep report and invoice on the same order
  • Filter overdue visits in the contract list

Who benefits most from this setup? Link to this section

Trades and facility teams gain when field and office stop maintaining parallel lists. Agencies and project-heavy service firms can run longer client work in projects with tasks and milestones beside day-to-day jobs, with time booked on the same contacts.

If your volume is a few jobs a week and billing is always a single visit, a simpler invoicing flow may be enough. Digital planning pays off when appointments collide, several technicians share a week, or the same asset returns every quarter.

Start with orders, planner, and reports. Add service objects when history per asset matters. Add maintenance contracts when intervals should create work without a reminder sticky note. Pricing and module packages are on the pricing page; match them to how often you visit the same sites.
