Beyond standard types you define custom document configurations: name, required fields, number range, and print layout tailored to industry-specific forms, e.g. work certificates or internal forms.
Print logic and email capability stay the same as for invoice and quote. No separate layout tool needed.
Custom documents benefit from contact linking, text templates, Drive attachments, and permissions. They are full documents in the tenant, not loose PDF templates outside the software.
When quote and invoice are not enough, you add your own type. A work report, handover record, or internal form then uses the same print, send, and permission logic.
A custom document is a document in the tenant. It has a number, a status, and a history. It is not a word-processor file that only lives in a personal folder.
Search, the activity log, and the usual print layouts therefore apply, without a second layout program.
